Halloween Part Two

The boys set up a haunted house for Brenna Rae and Carys in the basement and had a fun with them last night for our second part of Halloween! Then they danced to Just Dance 4 together on the wii!

After eating a few candies, of course, and lots of dinner before and after the dancing!

Homemade Apple Sauce!

Yesterday we had a visit with Auntie Ingrid who lives one street over and after a nice chat together, while the boys did some studying, we made homemade apple sauce. Auntie Ingrid is a former teacher who is very supportive about homeschooling and happy to teach us something new when we visit! We are very fortunate to have support everywhere we turn!

That's why we came home!

Happy Birthday, Nonna!

And to make the evening perfect, Nonna and Nonno arrived to see the boys in their costumes, and were surprised to find Papa here!! What a nice birthday surprise! Happy Birthday, Nonna!

Gramma Joins us to help Shell Out!

Mama and Papa make a perfect team this year with our native people's costume and Coureur de Bois look! (I was particulary happy to have found my Italian made wig in Brussels! And yes, I looked for it cheaper in Italy but could not find it so had to buy it near the Sablon!)

 I feel like the luckiest mom in the world!

 Gramma joined us so we could take our boys trick or treating. Grampa stayed home alone to give out the candies...thanks for your support!

 Our boys were very polite, yelling trick or treat and saying "thank you!" Their bags quickly got very heavy!

Preparing for Halloween Night!

A few days before Papa arrived, we bought him a pumpkin without knowing that he would be with us for Halloween. We were very happy that he could carve it with us instead of us carving it for him! And thanks to Uncle Chris for lending Papa his sheepskin coat and Davy Crockett hat which was a perfect costume that matched mama's native person outfit!

 Pit did not want to get his hands "dirty" at first but pretty soon got into without fear of getting messy!

Frunty chose some carving tools and a book on different designs to help us with our pumpkins this year! Pit and I worked on the pumpkins with the simple face and the bat and Frunty prepared the pumpkin with the monster design. Very cute...I mean, super scarey!!!

Catching up with Cousins!!!

It has been so great catching up with cousins in Europe, PEI and now in Uxbridge and Toronto!

 Cousins Steven and Michael play for hours with Frunty and Pit in Uxbridge!

 Cousins Brenna Rae and Carys meet us at Lick's which is a tradition we share with them!

We always make time for our studies though and the boys are enjoying their Canadian curriculum a great deal...especially social studies. We are studying the native peoples of Canada and the Group of Seven and look forward to going to some museums in the near future. It's good to be in our Canadian home surrounded by so many dear ones!

Papa is here!

What a shock when Papa showed up on Friday night after Scouts. Normally we are all fast asleep by 10pm but with the excitement of Scouts and a visit at Beckham's home, Frunty was reading in bed while I had a hot bath and Pit snored away. Luckily because Papa was outside throwing stones at the bedroom window where Frunty was reading with his head lamp on. Papa saw the light move around a bit and after the third stone, saw a little face at the window. He expected it to be mama but it was Frunty who was reading about Aboriginal Canadians. Frunty ran down the hall, yelling, "Papa is here!" I was thinking, oh no, Frunty will wake up Pit. I said to the very excited Frunty, "Papa is on skype?" and he said no, Papa is at the door and started to run down the stairs. I yelled behind him, "do not open the door, let me get it, it could be a crazy person that looks like Papa!" But as we looked past the skeleton taped on the glass, indeed there was Papa standing on the porch!! And as Uncle Scot said later, indeed there was a crazy man standing on the porch!

Papa- you are the craziest, most fun guy we know! Showing up out of nowhere, we did not think we would see you for several, long weeks! How exciting and how wonderful that you can stay for a month with us in Toronto! Thank you so much and thanks to your boss who wanted you in D.C and then approved your month-long stay with us. We love you soooooo much! Pit could not let go of Papa for several days, keeping his hand on Papa's neck day and night. Frunty and I were also thrilled and I still can't believe he is here with us. Our family is so lucky!
